Finding a trustworthy contractor is not always an easy task. Here are some tips for what to look for in an installer:

Make sure they are licensed and bonded. In California you can see a license at www.cslb.ca.gov

At the bottom of this page you can also check for workman's compensation. This is EXTREMELY important, as otherwise a homeowner is liable for any workers on their property. This is especially important when workers are climbing on your roof.

Make sure they are NOT subcontracting their installations. Look for a company who does not outsource their labor to inexperienced workers. This is crucial, as liens can be placed on your home if there is a falling out between contractor and distributor or any labor dispute. This will not happen if contracting is done in-house. This also ensures that the people installing your systems are professionals.

The price you are quoted for a system may also vary greatly. Some companies will come in and take advantage of the fact that homeowners have not taken the time to fully inform themselves on the market. Always receive at minimum three quotes before you decide to sign a contract. If a company is so pushy that you signed a contract and almost immediately felt remorseful, there is a three day rescission period during which you can cancel your contract with absolutely no repercussions.

SunFusion solar does meet all of the above listed standards, as do a few other companies in San Diego. Good companies are few and far between, and you as a consumer should be as fully informed as possible. Thank you for reading, and we hope to hear from you soon!

San Marcos Grand Spring Festival

Kids and parents alike love playing with these solar powered cars. It's a great way to see first-hand how powerful the sun's energy is. The cars are really just a smaller scale of the modules everyone is using on their homes to produce electricity.

While these little cars have just one silicon cell producing direct electrical current, the high efficiency modules we install have hundreds. The direct current then flows into an inverter which converts the DC to AC to be used by your home. The AC flows directly into your main electrical panel, and you can actually watch your meter run backwards!

SDG&E is installing their new "Smart Meters" in order to switch consumers to Time of Use billing. This means that the electricity you're using when you get home from work will be much more expensive than if you were to use it mid-day. With a solar system you'll be producing energy during those peak hours and thus you will avoid paying top dollar for energy. We've gotten many calls from disgruntled SDG&E customers saying they want to look into solar as soon as possible because as soon as their Smart Meter was installed their bills skyrocketed! If this has happened to you, don't hesitate to give us a call. We will come out for free, look at your consumption patterns, look at your existing electrical and roof and inform you on whether or not you could benefit from going solar.
