HEC+ (High Efficiency

Cell Plus) from Phono Solar

HEC+ (High Efficiency Cell Plus) is an industrial standard established among the manufacturers of photovoltaic modules similarly as the introduction of standard measuring conditions. HEC+ represents a specific group of photovoltaic modules demonstrating low degradation curve and long durability.

The basic requirements for the HEC+ brand:

Silicon purity must be over 300Ω
Zero tolerance of „micro-cracks“ (microscopic cracks or cell deformations)
Limited group of EVA with high resistance against UV
Limited group of tempered glasses with additives for the preservation of crystality
Limited group of junction boxes with increased heat resistance
Balanced bi-pass diodes with a minimum division to 3 sectors
Solar cables with specific characteristics (e.g.temperature limit -40°C +120°C)
Connector with specific sealing qualities.

The most important criterion that must be met in order that a given product can be labeled as HEC+ are cell degradation curves (PV Cell), glass and EVA. The sum total of the basic components degradation curves must not be n excess of 10% after 168-month exposition. These parameter are tested by artificial light.

Another important aspect is the micro-cracks and a presence/absence of PV cell defects invisible by naked eye. Several kinds of defects – (cracks, unevenness) might result in a decrease in power output in the levels A, B and C. In the level C, it could be assumed, the components will not be able to endure the guarantee period the manufacturer provides.
